Vimy Ridge Memorial: The Spirit of Canada mourns her Fallen Sons.
VIMY 1917 - 2007 PILGRIMAGE PÈLERINAGE
On April 9, 2007, over 4,000 Canadian high school students from across the country will make a “pilgrimage” to Vimy, France, to celebrate the 90th Anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge and the Rededication of the Vimy Memorial. To salute these students for their efforts, and to promote awareness of the significance of Vimy as the “birthplace” of modern Canada, The Vimy Foundation will be awarding each student “pilgrim” with a medal similar to that given in 1936 to the original pilgrims, World War I veterans attending the unveiling of the Memorial. These students, returning to Canada with their Vimy Pilgrimage Medals, will help convey the important message that the Vimy legacy is alive and well. more...
