Our client, Liberty Mutual Canada, is the Canadian branch of the Liberty Mutual Insurance Company (“Liberty”). Liberty is the sixth largest global property and casualty insurer and employs over 45,000 people in 29 countries and economies around the world. Liberty Mutual Canada offers a wide range of insurance products and services, including specialty lines, commercial property and casualty, and surety.

In order to continue meeting their growing needs, Liberty is looking to hire an additional lawyer to join the specialty claims team, currently comprised of 6 legal professionals.

On a daily basis, you will handle complex claim files across a variety of product lines ranging from director and officer liability to professional liability, employment liability and cybersecurity, to name a few. You will review and analyze claims, conduct required investigations, determine coverage, retain and manage litigation through external counsel and be involved in the negotiation of settlements, mediations and arbitrations.

If you have 2 or more years of litigation experience, are bilingual and a member of the Quebec Bar, this role may be for you! Experience or knowledge in insurance law, while not a prerequisite, will be considered an asset. The position can be based in either Montreal or Toronto, and will include the ability to work from home part time.
