Our client is a leader in the digital media field in Canada.

In order to support their needs, our client is looking to hire a Director of Legal Affairs.

Reporting to the CFO, you will act as the company’s sole in-house counsel. You will be responsible for overseeing all of the company’s legal issues by providing day-to-day advice to senior management and the company’s various business units. Among other things, you will be involved in the negotiation and drafting of various commercial contracts, from partnerships with major technology companies to sales, suppliers, and marketing & advertising agreements. You will support the HR and tax departments and will protect the intellectual property portfolio of the company. You will ensure that the company’s practices comply with applicable legislation & regulations, whether it’s about websites or a new product launch. Where necessary, you will manage litigation in collaboration with external lawyers. You might be involved in occasional acquisition transactions by assisting external lawyers and will supervise a paralegal.
