The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) is the statutory body responsible for regulating Ontario’s capital markets in accordance with the mandate established in the provincial Securities Act and the Commodity Futures Act. The mandate of the OSC is to provide protection to investors from unfair, improper, or fraudulent practices, to foster fair, efficient and competitive capital markets, and confidence in the capital markets, to foster capital formation, and to contribute to the stability of the financial system and the reduction of systemic risk. This mandate is performed through policy, operational and enforcement activities. The OSC also contributes to national and global securities regulation development.

The OSC is seeking a Senior Litigation Counsel to join the Quasi-Criminal Serious Offences team that investigates quasi-criminal and criminal offences related to securities, pursuant to the Provincial Offences Act and the Criminal Code of Canada. Working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment on a multi-disciplinary team, as Senior Litigation Counsel, you will help guide complex investigations and identify potential breaches of Ontario securities law. You will identify important legal issues and assist with formulating strategies for successful investigations. You will analyze and evaluate evidence to determine whether violations have occurred and recommend for appropriate action. A minimum of 10+ years’ experience is required.

As Senior Litigation Counsel, you will gain valuable advocacy experience and opportunities to lead complex hearings and/or trials. You will have the opportunity to be an integral part of a leading-edge team leveraging an innovative mix of traditional investigative techniques, data analytics, and open source intelligence analysis to investigate and prosecute complex cases.
