We were hiring for a mid-level tax associate and dealt with Amrit. Initially, we attempted to find someone using the lawyers’ informal network. I am now an Associate Counsel at a national firm, responsible for the China practice. I engaged ZSA before, in 2004, when I was placed at then Lang Michener. I reached out to ZSA as I thought ZSA had the resources and expertise I needed. I had a very good experience working with ZSA. First, they followed up with me after another ZSA consultant I had contacted before left. Second, they were very patient and tolerant of my delay in response or wavering through the course of over half a year. If they had not followed up with me again and again, I’d have given up pursuing further discussions with their recommended firm(s). Third, I was able to talk to ZSA frankly about my feelings, concerns and requirements. Finally, they were very helpful in the offer stage – trying to obtain the best offer for me, finalizing the offer details and getting the offer signed off on time. I was approached by a couple of other recruiters outside of Canada but they were not comparable to ZSA. One recruiter was upset when I decided not to pursue further discussion with a recommended firm. I cannot think of anything that would have improved my experience. I would definitely engage the services of ZSA again in the future.

We needed a lawyer in Alberta for our expanding practice and the assignment was quite unique. Online posting on LinkedIn didn’t produce many results, so we reached out to ZSA. Amrit was attentive and understood the needs. She was up front that it was challenging to find applicants, but she kept at it. Ultimately I believe that potential candidates likely took the opportunity more seriously because it was posted by ZSA, and I would use their services again.

Prior to speaking to Amrit, I had been applying for positions on my own but felt that I was spinning my tires, as I was not sure what firms would be interested in someone with my skill set and career goals. I had previously spoken to another recruiter who thought their clients might need someone with my skill set, but nothing had come of it.

Amrit made my job search significantly shorter by suggesting firms who she thought would want someone with my skills. I knew that I wanted to work on large, complex files because I had previously excelled at that work while working on contract at a large firm. However, I had been having very little luck finding openings and securing interviews for that kind of work. I approached ZSA because I thought a recruiter might know what companies had the kind of openings I was looking for. After reviewing my career summary and other materials, Amrit suggested I interview with several firms and within a few weeks, I had a job offer.  I was very happy with my experience dealing with Amrit, she was excellent and I would use her again.
